On a yearly basis, FONHDAD enrolls 5-10 interns from local and international universities. The exact number is contingent upon funding opportunity. Interns participate in cross functional projects under the guidance of a designated mentor in an effort to prepare them for entering the professional world. They are involved in cross training activities to develop their vision and understanding of processing procedures and goals. This position is designed to expose applicants to real-world experiences and learning in the field of their study.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Participate in projects as designated by mentor to increase understanding of organization operations and to improve process/procedure. May involve team participation and exposure to areas outside of the organization or live operations environment.
- Participate in educational opportunities such as seminars, Master Farmers Training Program and other ongoing training events.
- Develop understanding of financial & cost accounting reports, fundraising and finding solutions.
- Gain knowledge of processes and procedures throughout farm/live operations. Our Interns are expected to contribute to our success through innovative ideas and value creation.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Currently enrolled in a 4 year degree program or graduates. Agriculture, Economics, Environment, Engineering or Business Management is preferred. Intermediate computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint), good analytical project management and communication (oral and written) skills. (French is an asset).
Summer/Fall Internships:
Opportunity is open for graduate students, post-docs and young professionals alike. The internship can last just for the summer term or up to 6 months.
